Course Dates: please call for next available dates
Venue: Cardiff
Primus recognizes that there are situations that cannot be resolved with lower levels of control and communication. There is, therefore, a need for legitimate methods of gaining control during incidents that involve the use of force.
The objective of the Primus physical intervention training is to safely and effectively establish control by the use of non-aggressive means. When control is established and maintained use of force will cease or be de-escalated.
The Primus approach is based upon using the lowest level of response possible in order to safely resolve or contain an actual or potentially dangerous situation.
The skills have been formulated utilising a wealth of experience in use of force issues and medical advice.
The techniques within the courses have been chosen because they are:
- Non-aggressive and non pain compliant
- Effective
- Quickly learned
- Defensible in terms of injury potential
- Flexible
This new module is intended to provide candidates with a wider range of non-violent options for dealing with the most common scenarios involving physical contact. It does not offer a technique to cover every possible situation but provides a solid foundation in terms of knowledge and skills to further reduce risk to the customers and staff.
Primus requires delegates to undertake core personal safety and conflict management input, prior to moving onto physical intervention training, which should include sessions on prevention, assessment and defusing techniques as well as the law regarding use of force.
This course is designed for those working in the roles where the need for further development in line with Conflict Management training is required.
The skills are designed to be non pain compliant and not reliant on size, strength or gender.
This course now mandatory for new Door Supervisors, and may become mandatory for those with existing licenses and as a condition of renewal.
It is also recommended for Security Guards, Stewards, and those employed within the Security Industry.
EDI are the awarding body for the certificate and this will be accepted by the SIA when your licence requires renewal. The course covers all aspects relating to workplace violence leading to use of force and Physical Intervention skills.
